Avalon Nature Preserve is located on Harbor Road in Stony Brook, NY. Avalon is FREE and open to the public year round, offering approximately 5 miles of trails for your boot soles.

Take some time to center yourself high above the ponds in the Avalon labyrinth. Designed after the labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral in France, this meditative walk of 7 circuits begins at the southwest entrance. Please stay on the stones to allow this space to flourish.

On the eastern edge of the labyrinth, you will find a cast bronze memorial sculpture. Created by New York City artist Jod Lourie, the sculpture represents the Greek Titan Prometheus who stole fire from the gods and gave it to humans.

Key general takeaways while on trails:

- Observe, Don’t Disturb

- Dogs Welcome
